This is a small selection of our customers. Photos of these buildings can be viewed in our picture gallery.

Schloss Körtlinghausen

The stately home of Schloss Körtlinghausen was built in an idyllic setting between 1714 and 1764 to plans by architect Justus Wehmer.

After the Second World War the architectural gem was let to Caritas (a Christian welfare association) as a training centre. After the end of this tenancy, substantial repair and restoration work was necessary.

Between 2000 and 2003, Freiherr von Fürstenberg transformed the house into an elegant venue for celebrations and meetings, renewing the old building and faithfully imitating its original decorations and furnishings. For this renovation, Freiherr von Fürstenberg was awarded the 2004 Westphalian Denkmalpreis (prize for highly sensitive and authentic architectural heritage renovation). Pictures of this project can be viewed in our gallery.

Schloss Ehreshofen/ Malteser Kommende Ehreshofen (Order of Malta Centre)

In Schloss Ehreshoven we were commissioned to lay a number of solid wood floors, including the one in Carmen Thomas’ Moderationsakademie (communication training centre), and to do the insulation work with cellulose insulation material. In addition, Fagus laid approx. 2,000 m² oak flooring in the Malteser Kommende.

Borgshaus Kaiserswerth
Restoration of the listed Borgshaus at Suitbertus-Stiftsplatz in the Kaiserswerth district of Düsseldorf.

The Borgshaus, with its interesting building history – presumed to be the former charnel-house of the collegiate cemetery – has been established to be one of the oldest clergy houses at Stiftsplatz. Evidence suggests that the oldest parts of the building are Romanesque, dating back to the 11th century. Certain features of a vaulted cellar next to Stiftsplatz suggest that there used to be an adjoining building of the same kind. The building, which was originally free-standing but may have had extensions facing the courtyard, underwent substantial alterations and enlargement in the 18th century. At that time it was joined to the Immunity Tower, the whole complex being altered in the Baroque style. Features added during that phase include a “Cologne ceiling” with complex stucco ornaments, which is highly valuable today, a Baroque staircase and the entrance with the Latin inscription.

The Gothic stepped gable facing the Stiftsplatz, a rare example in the region, was established to have been there around the turn of the 20th century. Destroyed during the war, it was later quite faithfully restored.

Regarding the former use of the building we are left to speculation. There is no clear evidence of the house being used, as often suggested, as a mortuary or even charnel-house in the time when the Stiftsplatz was a cemetery. There is, however, evidence that the Borg family lived in the house and tilled the land of the Marien Hospital in the 19th century. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the whole estate of the Catholic Suitbertus congregation was sold. The building, which was last used as a joiner’s workshop and warehouse, will serve residential and commercial purposes after its restoration.

Diakonie Düsseldorf: Treff-In / Cafe Drrüsch
Right in the middle of Flingern, where much of Düsseldorfs social life takes place (e.g. this is where Campino from the band Tote Hosen lives and the Fortuna team plays), on the corner of Langerstraße and Geressheimerstraße, is Café Drrüsch (local dialect for dry).

In former times, the café run by Düsseldorfs Diakonie (Christian social welfare organization), Treff In, was gloomy and hidden. Since its renovation, however, it is a refreshingly bright and pleasant place, providing an enjoyable atmosphere for addicts and non-addicts alike, as well as for those who need advice. For pictures of this project, look into our gallery.

Various residential properties
It goes without saying that we have also been working in many private dwellings. It would exceed the scope of this presentation to show all the pictures and, understandably, many owners place value on privacy. However, some pictures can be found in our gallery.
